Privacy policy.

FocusKey is designed to work locally on your iPhone. This policy describes the app in private testing and this website. Effective October 5, 2026.

FocusKey app

The app has no account, cloud backend, ads, analytics SDK, or tracking. Profiles, selected Screen Time tokens, session history, paired-key digests, and diagnostics stay in local app storage on your iPhone. The Home Screen widget reads a limited local status snapshot through the app’s shared App Group; it does not receive the card value or Screen Time selection tokens.

Screen Time and NFC

FocusKey asks iOS for Family Controls authorization to let you select apps, categories, and supported websites and apply restrictions during a focus session. You can revoke this authorization in iOS Settings. The app writes a random value to a compatible NFC card and stores a SHA-256 digest for local matching. The raw card value is not included in diagnostics. A passive card can be copied by someone who can read it; FocusKey does not claim clone resistance.

Session insights

Insights calculate time within recorded FocusKey sessions. They do not measure your actual app use, claim to reduce screen time, or estimate time saved. Completed records remain on your device under the device’s normal backup settings.

Lost-key recovery

A confirmed recovery clears FocusKey’s restrictions on that phone, revokes its locally paired keys, and requires a fresh card write and verification before another focus session. It does not erase the contents of a lost card or revoke a pairing stored on a different phone.

This website

This static website does not set marketing cookies, run analytics scripts, or collect information through a form. Its hosting and DNS providers may process standard connection information such as IP address and request logs to deliver the site. If you email us, your message and address are handled by the email providers needed to receive and answer it.
